Afro Cuban & Body Movement
What is dance without body movement? Don't be robotic, this class will focus entirely on technique and help get that sizzle into your step! A strong focus on afro cuban isolations and body movement with application to salsa.
Cuban Combo
In this combo class you will learn all of the popular Cuban dances: Cha Cha Cha, Son, Mambo, Afro Cuban, Rumba and Reggaeton. You will not only learn how to dance popular and timeless dances, but be able to understand the music and rich history that comes along with them.
Cha Cha Cha: This dance originated in Cuba and has also become very popular throughout the ballroom style. Cuban Cha Cha Cha uses lots of shoulder and hip movement in the basic step, making it a more sensual dance compared to its ballroom twin.
Son: Son Cubano is one of the most influential and widespread forms of Latin Music, its is the very foundation of salsa, as salsa (dance) is only a variation of Son and the salsa (music) was developed from son. It is danced "on 2", in a partner or solo and has a more graceful feel than salsa. Learning this dance is critical to mastering the latin style and technique! Some well known musicians who play Son are Buena Vista Social Club and Oscar de Leon.
Mambo: Mambo manifests many characteristics derived from Son and is completely different to the modern dance that New Yorkers now call 'Mambo'. Cuban Mambo is contains moves of modern day salsa styling and has been a very influential part of modern day Cuban Salsa. You can see mambo still danced in Cuba on the stage of the most popular dance show in the world, Tropicana!
Rumba: The foundation of salsa is Afro Cuban Rumba, so you can see how important this cloass can be to all salsa dancers! Proper latin body movement is an integral part to your dancing, and in this class you will learn the technique and body movements. We will focus on isolations and build on tehse movements throughout the session.
Reggaeton: This is an upbeat, fun and rhythmic class fusing modern reggae, dance hall, hip hop and carribean beats with latin rhythms to for a unique, fluid style of dance. A strong focus on body isolation, increasing movement and flexibility through a combination of energetic routines
Zumba!
Not your typical Zumba class, because at La Rumba Cuban Dance School we add even MORE flavor! This is more of a dance based work out, you won't see any 80's aerobics moves here!
Beginner Salsa
Join our beginner salsa class if you have never danced before, have taken a few lessons, or need a refresher on the beginner moves. You will learn the basic steps, some turns and combinations that you can use on the dance floor to get you started! You can take this class as many times as you like to feel comfortable before moving on to the next level.
Salsa Level 1.5
This is the bridge between beginner and intermediate levels. You will choose this class if you have finished the beginner level, but are not quite ready for the intermediate class.
